First Class for On Line’s Adam
On Line Design’s Piping Designer Adam Kelly is delighted to have achieved a First-Class Honours Degree in Engineering Technology.
24-year-old Adam from Hessle is based in the Hull office and is currently working as part of the Valero Piping team on projects for the Valero Refinery in Pembroke, Wales.
Adam, who has worked for On Line since March 2012, studied for his Open University degree at Hull College following the completion of a Foundation Degree within the same subject.
After completing his degree in January this year, Adam said “The completion of my Bachelor’s Degree is a significant and necessary step in my engineering career. I am relieved to have made it this far, and I am excited by the prospect of what potential opportunities my new qualification could provide. I intend to keep going, but for now, I believe I have earned a break. I haven’t given myself any breathing room since leaving school at 16, having always worked and studied concurrently. Now that I am nearing 25, it would be nice to take some time out for myself.”
Adam aspires to become a Chartered Engineer, focussing on the design of Pressure Vessels. Alternatively, he would like to be involved in nuclear reactor design and innovation, particularly focusing on the experimental work surrounding Molten Salt Reactors.
Adam’s Head of Department and Piping and Mechanical Section Leader, Neil Tock said, “Adam has always been willing to help and is very flexible when asked to help with a quick turnaround of project delivery. He’s progressed into being a valued member of the Mechanical & Piping team, becoming involved with the Valero design liaising with all disciplines and taking up any challenges thrown his way and always gives 100%.”
As well as being an avid reader, Adam’s other interests include learning languages, with his focus being on Japanese. He also loves to travel and has a fondness for Japan. In the past 4 years, he has visited Japan twice and travelled to Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima, to name a few places.
On Line congratulates Adam on his achievement and wishes him all the best on his Graduation Day in October at Hull City Hall.
